The LORD is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him in truth. Psalms 145:18 NLT
I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophecy. Your old men will dream dreams, and your young men will see visions. Joel 2:28b NLT
But everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved. Acts 2:21 NLT
Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on him. For “Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved. Romans 10:12-13 NLT
All of our verses for this week tell us that we can all call on the name of the LORD. That means that you can call on the Lord to save you or to help you.
In our first verse, David tells us that God is close to us when we call on His name, He hears us!
Our second verse is a promise from God that He will pour out His Spirit on all people, men and women, the old and the young.
Our last two verses repeat the same message, “Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.”
When you are in trouble or need help, who do you talk to or ask for help? Your parents, a friend, a grandparent or someone else? Our Father God and Jesus say we can call out to them in prayer.
I was not raised in church, but my grandparents gave me a Bible when I was 9 years old. I began to read it, especially the letters in red (the words of Jesus). I started going to church. I learned about God and Jesus and wanted to know more. One morning, I went to the altar and prayed to the LORD to save me, and He did! I was baptized and have continued to call on His name when I am in trouble or to help a friend or family member.
But I don’t want you to think that when you call on the name of the LORD, all your prayers will be answered the way you want. I’m going to share one of my favorite verses with you.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 NLT
As an adult, I wanted to write books for children, I went to writers’ workshops, I read lots of books, and I prayed that God would help me become a children’s book author. But it never happened. Something better happened! God led me to write these blogs, for adults, but also one for children, so that your whole family could talk about our amazing God and His Son, Jesus, together!
This week talk with your parents or others about how they have called on the name of the LORD, how some of their prayers have been answered. Or maybe how God did something even better!?
Blessings and a future and a hope as you call on the name of the LORD!
