The Beauty of Winter

As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night will not cease. Genesis 8:22 CSB

You set all the boundaries of the earth; you made summer and winter. Psalms 74:17 CSB

The beauty of the winter season.

God’s amazing creation not only endures but still follows God’s plan for days and nights and years and seasons. Most of us might not pick winter as our favorite season, but winter is the season of rest for the earth. And the winter season calls us to rest as well. Less outside work to do, unless you get lots of snow! There is time for indoor cozy activities with our families. And winter does have its own special beauty.

Winter’s Beauty

Bare trees silhouetted against a grey blue sky.

Field plants blanketed in snow where they lie.

Ice clinging and covering the wintery landscape.

Glimmering and sparkling like a sequined cape.

A wintry sunrise kindles God’s hope and peace.

Overhead, a “vee” of migrating, honking geese.

A cold, yet fiery sunset warms the believer’s heart.

God’s beauty displayed, His faithful love to impart.

This week, maybe not “step outside,” but look out your window and see God’s beauty in the season of winter. Embrace creation and its beauty in every season. Where do you see the beauty of the Lord in winter?

I thank God for each of you! And I thank you for joining me this week as we discover the beauty of the Lord in His creation of winter.

Blessings, hope, peace, and rest in the winter season!
