What Does Your Heart Want?

May he give you what your heart desires and fulfill your whole purpose. Let us shout for joy at your victory and lift the banner in the name of our God. May the LORD fulfill all your requests. Psalms 20:4-5 CSB

A person’s steps are established by the LORD, and he takes pleasure in his way. Psalms 37:23 CSB

The low clouds make the view hard to see. Sometimes it is hard to find our way in life, but God is with us and guides us on our path.

Our first verse is a prayer asking that God will give you what your heart desires or wants. The second verse tells us that along our path through life, God helps us each step of the way. And that we can enjoy our path with God at our side.

God helps us to find our purpose, what we are meant to do, in our lives. He creates each of us with certain things that we love to do or special gifts that make us good at something. What do you love to do? What are you good at? Do you like to draw, or play sports, or tell jokes, or take care of animals, or oh so many other things?

When I was young l loved school and I loved to babysit, especially kids who had medical issues or problems that no one else wanted to babysit. It was the “desire of my heart;” it was what my heart wanted to do. And with that experience and what my heart wanted; I became a teacher. What I loved to do led me to my grown-up job.

God is always at work in our lives as we grow. He works all the things in our lives, the good and the hard stuff, for our good. We might become stronger by relying on God. We might become better at doing what we love as we practice. We might be able to help others as they walk through their lives with God. Your possibilities are endless with the Lord as your guide. Because “with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26b

This week talk with your parents about what you love to do, what you are good at, and what your heart really wants. Think about things you can do to help others, too. And most importantly look to God for guidance along your path, wherever it takes you.

Blessings and prayers that God will give you what your heart wants!
