Your Heart’s Desire

May he give you what your heart desires and fulfill your whole purpose. Let us shout for joy at your victory and lift the banner in the name of our God. May the LORD fulfill all your requests. Psalms 20:4-5 CSB

A person’s steps are established by the LORD, and he takes pleasure in his way. Psalms 37:23 CSB

Just as the clouds settle into the valleys and obscure the view, our paths are sometimes hard to see. Thankfully God is our guide.

Many of you already know much of my story. I spent 12 years as a teacher, half in a self-contained BEH (Behaviorally/Emotionally Handicapped) classroom and half in a regular first grade. I loved both! Then 12 years as a stay-at-home mom to a daughter and a son. I loved it and wouldn’t trade a moment. Then 12 years working with my husband in his small business. We kidded that it was a “test to our marriage” but it really brought us closer. Although different, I also enjoyed it.

I felt at each stage that this was where I was meant to be. When we retired, I felt a strong calling to write children’s books as my ministry. “My heart’s desire.” I joined SCBWI (Society for Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators) and attended conferences. I attended my first Christian Writers Conference in 2017. It was inspirational! I began my blog in January of 2018 with the prayer that my writing would touch at least one family or person each week. It’s one reason I do a post for adults and one for children.

Since then, I have written several children’s books, including some Christian and some with rhyming poetry. So far, nothing published. I have seen my share of rejection letters; although these days you may only get a response if the publisher or agent is interested. So, I come today to share my path, my disappointment, but mostly, my victory.

Even though disappointment rules at the moment, my victory is in my path that has been truly amazing. Though difficult and trying at times, I have learned much and matured. I have drawn closer to my Lord. And I have met so many wonderful people along the way, including other writers and my WordPress family.

So, this week let’s all look past the difficulties of our paths to the victory that is ours in the name of the Lord. Let’s persevere on the path to our heart’s desire.

I truly thank God for each and every one of you! And I thank you for joining me on my way that the Lord has established and that I take great pleasure in.

Blessings and purpose as you travel the path of your heart’s desire!
