“Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.” Psalms 143:10 NIV

As you probably know by now, my husband and I live in the Virginia foothills. We live on a beautiful piece of property that is hilly to say the least, and steep and rocky to say the most. We often kid each other, especially as we are hiking, that we don’t have a level piece of land, except where we leveled it to build.
We would all love to follow God’s will when the walking is easy, and the ground is level, just as David asks. But when the calling is an uphill climb and the path is rocky, we tend to falter. I am an introvert when I am face to face with people. I can be a bit bolder when I am sitting at my keyboard in my office and writing this blog.
But God rarely calls us to the easy path. God calls me to step out of my comfort zone and be bold to share my faith and my Savior with others I encounter. I am honest when I say I have balked at some of the opportunities God has presented me. “I don’t know what to say, I can’t do it here, I’m sure they will get mad.” I have lots of excuses to stay on my “level ground”, but it is not God’s will for me. I know God forgives my reluctance, but I tend to stumble when I am not on my level, comfortable ground. But God always presents me another opportunity to follow His will and be bold in my faith. I am learning to climb the steep, rocky path with the help of my God.
This week, what is God asking you to do that is an uphill climb, a path off of your normal level ground? Let’s all strive to hike the path that God has laid out for us. Let’s face our reluctance and step out boldly onto the “unlevel ground” and follow the will of God, our Father.
I thank God for each of you! And I thank you for joining me this week as we follow the will of God on challenging unlevel ground as well as on level ground.
Blessings as you climb your mountain with God!
Wonderful post.I strongly believe that sometimes just like Paul your bodly presence might be weak but when you write you carry usual authority ,check this scripture
2 Corinthians 10:10…Because there are many people who say, “The letters are weighty and powerful, but his bodily presence is weak and his speech contemptible.”
So yes try other areas you not comfortable with but never neglect your gift.
