Lift Up Your Eyes

“Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.” Isaiah 40:26 NIV

The sunset show begins with fading light and pastel shades of color.

My favorite times of the day are sunrise and sunset. The sunrise is God’s promise of a new day, a fresh start. And the sunset is a time to relax, lift up our eyes to the skies, and remember all that God has done for us that day. We love to sit outside and watch the changing sky and the stars come out. We even have a few “permanent” chairs set out at our favorite spots to enjoy the evening skies.

Even with busy lives, far too busy for even us retired people, it’s important to take some time each day to be still in God’s presence and delight in the beauty of His creation. I have to remind myself that God puts on this heavenly show each and every night. I simply have to take the time to watch the glorious spectacle as light fades to dark.

The sunset’s changing beauty as the last rays of sunlight reflect off the clouds.

This week let’s all take the time to be still, lift up our eyes and look to the heavens, and know that God is in the sunset. Watch the fading light, the changing colors, the stars popping out as the sky darkens, and the glory of God’s amazing sunset show. Share the experience with your family and remember all the ways that God has blessed you. Delight in the Lord.

I thank God for each of you! And I thank you for joining me this we week as we lift up our eyes to the Creator, our God and our Lord.

Blessings in the sunsets!
