Tell Your Story!

“With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all.” Acts 4:33 NIV

“Even when I am  old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come.” Psalms 71:18 NIV

An eastern box turtle came by to visit one day, I bet he has a story to tell.

First of all I know that you are a long, long way from “old and gray”. That verse is more for your grandparents, parents and me. But both of these verses tell us that we should share our stories about the love, grace and power of our God with others . And even though you are still young, you can tell your story.

The apostles, Peter, John, James and the others, followed Jesus while He was here on earth. They saw His miracles and heard His teaching. They lived and traveled with Him and ate meals with Him. They saw first-hand everything Jesus did. They were sad when He died on the cross and were joyful when the tomb was empty and Jesus was alive. They were eyewitnesses to all that Jesus did.

They could testify to others that Jesus was the Son of God, that He arose from the dead to offer all people forgiveness and salvation. They told their story. And they convinced others that Jesus was the Messiah, our Savior, God’s Son who offered salvation and forgiveness to all people. Many people believed and were saved when the apostles told their story.

So, if you are saved, you have a story to tell. If you “put on the armor of God” in Sunday school and felt like a soldier of God, you have a story to tell. If you felt happy and joyful as you sang your favorite church song, you have a story to tell. If you just love to go to church because Jesus is there, you have a story to tell. God works in all of our lives. Tell your story, the story that only you can tell, to others.

This week, draw a picture of your story. Maybe, when you went to the front of the church to announce that you believed in all that God and Jesus did for you or when you were afraid and felt God and Jesus near. Maybe when you had a prayer answered or when God led you to be kind to a friend who was sad. You have a story that would help someone else believe in God and Jesus. Share your picture and tell your story.

Blessings and joy as you tell your story of God’s love, grace and power!
