Let Your Light Shine!

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 NIV

Each new sunrise shines God’s created light. Let’s shine God’s light through our lives to others.

Light, the very first created thing. Light dispels darkness. Light illuminates truth. Light clarifies our path. Light radiates strength. Light reveals our fears. Light reflects our God. Light shines out from its source so that all may see by it. “God is light” (I John 1:5).  And that light is life.

God is our light and life. His Spirit fills our hearts. His words fill our minds. His purpose guides our path. His strength fortifies our bodies. His light magnifies our light.

Jesus tells us to let our light shine before others. We don’t have to work at it. It just happens. When we are filled with the light of God, that light has to shine. We can’t hide it! We can’t suppress it. We can’t deny it. We have to let that light of God shine through us. So shine.

Shine the light of kindness, gentleness, forgiveness, care, acceptance, love, joy, peace, and patience. Shine God for all to see. I keep hearing the children’s song, “This Little Light of Mine” in my head as I write this.

This little light of mine
I’m going to let it shine
Oh, this little light of mine
I’m going to let it shine

This little light of mine
I’m going to let it shine
Let it shine, all the time, let it shine

This week, let your God light shine through. Let others see God in you. Let others see forgiveness and acceptance, joy and peace, and everlasting love. Pray that God’s light will shine.

Please Lord, let your light shine through us to those around us. Let others see your glory in our light, in our deeds, in our lives. Let others see You in us and desire You for themselves. Let us shine your light!

I thank God for each of you! And I thank you for joining me this week as we let God’s light shine through us to others.

Blessings and shining light!
