The Lord God Almighty!

“He who forms the mountains, who creates the wind, and who reveals his thoughts to mankind, who turns dawn to darkness, and treads on the heights of the earth – the Lord God Almighty is his name.” Amos 4:13 NIV

The early morning sun breaking through the dark clouds and fog left over from last night’s storm.

I am reading Amos this week. It’s pretty full of doom and gloom. One of those books we tend to skim over and not really read. Guilty. Amos preaches the judgement of God on Israel’s neighbors as well as on Israel itself for sins against each other and the Lord. But there are a couple of beautiful passages that remind God’s chosen of just who God is. (The other is Amos 5:8)

Amos is prompting Israel to recall, repent and return to their God. The Lord God Almighty who created the mountains, the wind and the world. The God who created mankind in His own image and reveals His thoughts and plans to men and women. The Lord who controls the dawn and the dark. The Lord God Almighty who reigns above all the earth and sees all of His creation.

For those of you who read my blog, you know that I love to be outside in God’s wonderful creation. I love to search for traces of God in the smallest details. I love to praise the work of His hands. I love to worship God outdoors in His “big church”.

Join me this week as we take the advice of Amos and remind ourselves that our creator is the Lord God Almighty!

The amazing variety and speed at which toadstools pop up after a drenching rain.

The engineering marvel of a hummingbird in flight.

The colorful intricacy of a wildflower bloom.

The beautiful detailed pattern of a wood fungus whose job is to breakdown decaying wood on the forest floor.

This week take time to find our Lord God Almighty in His magnificent creation.

I thank God for each of you! And I thank you for joining me this week as we re-discover our Lord God Almighty.

Blessings and joy!
