Truth for All Generations

“For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations.” Psalms 100:5 NKJV

Bible Table

Psalms 100 (only 5 verses long) is the only Psalm that bears the title “A Psalm of Thanksgiving” or “Song of Praise” in the NKJV. Most of us are familiar with the first verse, “Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands!”  But it is the fifth verse that sums up all the reasons we offer praise and thanksgiving to our Lord.

The Lord is good:  Only God, the creator of everything, the Savior of our souls, the Spirit who bears fruit within us, is good. He desires and deserves our thanksgiving and our praise.

His mercy is everlasting: God displays His love and mercy for His people, us, created in His image. His salvation path, always in His plans, offers us love, forgiveness, mercy and everlasting life with Him!

His truth endures to all generations: the Bible, God’s Word, God’s Truth is for everyone and for all time. His truth remains the truth, no matter your circumstances, your past, your mistakes, your age, your citizenship, your personality or your individuality. All that matters is that you believe His truth and trust in His Son and follow His path to salvation.

I also take this last part of the verse, “to all generations”, a little bit personally. As Christians, part of our path, our work, our service for the Lord is to ensure that each succeeding generation hears His truth. This responsibility belongs to each of us. Do you share His truth with your children, your parents, your grandparents, your grandchildren, your friends and your acquaintances?

I challenge each of us, myself included, to share God’s enduring, life-giving truth with someone this week. Someone you meet at the grocery, a child in your neighborhood, a friend, anyone; you choose. Let’s all take God’s goodness, His love, His everlasting mercy, and His enduring truth to someone who needs to hear His Truth.

I thank God for each of you! And I thank you for joining me this week to praise our Lord with thanksgiving and to bravely go forth to share His enduring truth.

Blessings and God’s guidance as we share His truth with someone this week!
