“The Lord will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. Isaiah 58:11 NKJV
A spring fed waterfall!
In the past we’ve talked about the promises that are in the Bible for all of us. Just a few are: that God loves us, that God is with us, that God has a plan for our lives, and that God sent His Son, Jesus, to save us.
When I was reading my Bible this week, I found this wonderful verse that has beautiful descriptions of how God cares for us. First it reminded me of how much God loves us, but it also reminded me of my home here. I want to share both with you.
“The Lord will guide you continually”
God not only has a plan or a path for our lives, but He will guide us along the journey, and He will always be with us!
A grassy path into the woods. God will guide our way.
“And satisfy your soul in drought”
To satisfy means to fulfill a desire or need. Our physical bodies need water and food to survive. Our souls or spirits need God to thrive. Have you ever been thirsty and just had to have some water or you believed you would not make it? Well, your soul is thirsty for God and God’s Word. So when we read God’s Word it is like watering our souls, it satisfies our spirits.
“And strengthen your bones”
When we read God’s Bible, He gives us strength for our souls, and we feel stronger. God gives us strength to do all that He has planned for us.
A lovely sunset sky over the wheat field let’s me know God is near! My soul is satisfied and strengthened.
“You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail”
God will water us like a dry garden, so we can soak up His Word and understand His love. He will make us like a spring of water out of the ground that never dries up, His love and care for us will constantly flow.
A never ending spring that flows out of the side of a hill provides a cool drink!
Another favorite description of how God cares for us is in Psalms 23. “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul.” I have all I need when God cares for me.
Just like God cares for this deer in the field, He cares for us!
The special places near my home remind me of God’s love and power, and how much he cares for me and provides for me. My soul is satisfied.
Do you have a special place that reminds you of God and how much He loves and cares for you? Draw a picture or write a detailed description. Then share it with your parents and ask them if they have a special place. Talk about how God can satisfy us and provide for our desires and needs.
Blessings as you enjoy all of God’s promises and His special care!
