“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1
“The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell therein” Psalms 24:1
Earth Day was Sunday. It is a worldwide observance of environmental issues facing our planet. But the best reason to take care of the earth is that this world we live in is God’s creation. We, as humans, formed in God’s image, are given dominion over the plants, animals, and the entire earth. With that position, we have a tremendous responsibility to take care of the natural world that God has created.
The earth is full of the light and beauty and diversity. Let us take time to enjoy what God has created. Let us take time appreciate our earth. Let us take time to thank God for all He has provided. Let us take time to do something to protect our earth, at least our small portion of it!
Today I would just like to share some pictures of my small portion of God’s creation with you so we can all revel in God’s beautiful world! Please feel free to share your own pictures of creation as a reply to this blog. I would love to see your pics!
Our pond, which we stocked with trout…
An osprey that we loved to watch near the pond! Until we realized that we have no trout left in the pond…so he left too.
Apple blossoms among the fruit trees. Hopefully apples in the fall.
Pilot mountain with sunlit ridges near sunset.
Leaves budding out on all the trees!
A stormy sky bringing needed rain.
An Eastern Redbud tree blooming in the woods, more purple than red!
Colorful clouds in a sunset sky!
This week let’s just enjoy God’s wonderful world!
I thank God for each of you! And I thank you for joining me today to celebrate our earth, God’s marvelous handiwork.
