“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1
“The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell therein” Psalms 24:1
Yesterday, Sunday, was Earth Day, a day when all around the world people celebrate our earth and try to do things to help keep it clean. Our best reason to celebrate Earth Day is that God created the earth and everything on it. God made the earth, the sun, the moon, the stars, the mountains, the seas, the plants, the animals, the birds, and us! Let’s thank God for our earth by taking good care of it.
God’s Beautiful, Wonderful World!
The whole earth belongs to the Lord.
He created it all to be lived in and explored!
Waters to sail and swim and mountains to climb,
Forests and hills to hike, it could take a lifetime!
All kinds of plants, some for beauty, some for food,
Some tiny, some huge, some prickly and rude.
Then God created birds and animals galore!
They gallop and leap and slither and soar!
But with God’s earth we have a great responsibility,
We have to care for it all, to the best of our ability!
Thank You, God, for the world You made.
And help me to do my part, I pray.
Today I want to share some photographs that I’ve taken in my small part of God’s wonderful world. Let’s enjoy God’s creation together!
This is our pond, and this is the osprey that we liked to watch fly around it.
Apple blossoms that will hopefully be apples this fall!
The tree leaves are all budding out!
A cloudy sky that will bring rain to earth’s plants!
Pilot Mountain’s knob and sunlit ridges close to sunset.
Traveler and RE say thanks for joining us to celebrate God’s creation. We love to swim in the pond!
This week explore your part of God’s creation! Draw a picture or take a photograph of something that is special or lovely to you.
Afterwards ask your parents to share your picture or photo as a reply to this blog (or by email) so that everyone can appreciate God’s magnificent creation.
Also check out the new “Kids Gallery” page where your pictures and photos would be posted!
