Indeed, God is my salvation; I will trust him and not be afraid, for the LORD, the LORD himself, is my strength and my song. “Give thanks to the LORD; proclaim his name! Make his works known among the peoples. Declare that his name is exalted. Sing to the LORD, for he had done glorious things. Let this be known throughout the earth. Isaiah 12:2, 4b-5 CSB

Who doesn’t love to sing an old hymn or a lively worship song in praise to the Lord? I love to sing on Sundays in church. The old hymns remind me of going to church with my grandparents. My grandma’s favorite was “How Great Thou Art.” I also love many of the newer worship songs like “I Can Only Imagine” and “How Great Is Our God.”
But I have to be honest and admit that I’m not a great singer. I actually feel a little sorry for the people sitting in front of me, but not sorry enough to stop singing. I want to praise the Lord with song! I hope that the Lord appreciates the song, even if it isn’t perfect.
We have so many reasons to sing to the Lord. Thankfulness for His sacrifice and salvation, for His presence and peace, His strength and sustenance, and His blessings and bounty. We sing to exalt His name above all others and to share all that He has done for us. We sing of His glory, the beauty of His creation, His power, and the gift of His Spirit.
This week let the Lord be your song. Sing to your God wherever you might be; in church, hiking in the beauty of His creation, or in your home with your family. Give the Lord all praise and glory. Worship the Lord with a song and thank Him for all He has done in your life.
I thank the Lord for each of you! And I thank you for joining me this week as we worship and praise our God with a song.
Blessings and joy for the Lord is our song!
