Don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought at a price. So glorify God with your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 CSB

But now, because of Jesus’ sacrifice for all of us, the Holy Spirit lives within us. Our bodies are the temples!
After Moses led God’s people out of Egypt, across the Red Sea, and into the wilderness; God gave instructions on building a tabernacle. A special, holy place where God’s presence would live and be close to the people. After the tabernacle was built God’s presence would descend like a cloud over it and God’s glory filled the tabernacle.
When God’s people were in the promised land, Solomon built a temple for God. And just like the tabernacle, God’s presence came and filled the temple, and He was with His people. That temple was destroyed long ago and there is no longer a temple in Jerusalem.
Today our verses, that Paul wrote to the church at Corinth, explain to us that if you are a believer, and you are saved by the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, your body is God’s temple. Wow, your body is a temple where the Holy Spirit lives within you. And His presence is always with you in your heart. It’s a lot to think about, but the wonderful thing is that you always have a helper and friend.
Paul wants us to know this because he also tells us that we should glorify God with our bodies. So, what does that mean? Can you think of some actions that you can do with your body that would please God, please Jesus? Things like being nice to others, or doing a chore for your mom or dad, or helping the new kid at school, or even just saying your prayers at night?
This week talk to your parents, think about the things you do, what things “glorify God?” Are there any that don’t? (Like calling someone a name or being mean to others.) We all need to look at our actions and strive to do those things that would please God. You know, we all have to decide on actions that will please God.
Blessings as you work to glorify God with the actions of your body!
