For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 KJV
Dear friends, if God loved us in this way, we also must love one another. No one has ever seen God. If we love one another, God remains in us and his love is made complete in us. 1 John 4:11-12 CSB

Tomorrow is Valentines Day! A day to celebrate love for our families and our friends. And a perfect time to talk about God’s love. Have you made a card for your mom and dad yet? Do you still share Valentine cards at school? Think for just a minute, and see if you can name ten people that you love, not just like.
But where does our love come from? Can you guess from our verses? You’re right. The beginning of all love is God. We love because God first loved us. God loved Adam and Eve, the first humans He created in His image, and He loves all people, including you and me. When humans disobey God (sin) we are separated from God because God is holy. (Remember last week’s devotion?)
But God loves us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to be the sacrifice for us. Jesus never sinned or disobeyed God. He even went to the cross willingly for each of us. When we believe in all that God and Jesus have done for us, and ask for forgiveness for our sins and disobedience, God sees us as holy, just like Jesus. Our sins are wiped out and we will have everlasting life with God and Jesus.
But our second verse tells us what we need to do with that great love that God has given us – we are to love each other. We are to shine God’s love to others, at home, at school, at church, wherever we are. We are to help and care for others by sharing that great love that God has shared with us.
This week, talk with your parents. First thank God for His amazing love for you. Then decide on at least one person you can share God’s love with this week. You can help with a chore, be nice to the new kid at school, do something nice for your teacher or friend. (Psst – don’t forget a card for your parents and brothers and sisters.)
Blessings as you receive God’s love and shine His love for others!
