For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 KJV
Dear friends, if God loved us in this way, we also must love one another. No one has ever seen God. If we love one another, God remains in us and his love is made complete in us. 1 John 4:11-12 CSB

Valentine’s Day seems like the perfect time to talk about love. We celebrate our love for our significant others as well as for others in our family and our friends. Love is such a beautiful connection of human hearts! But what is the source of our love? I think most of you already know where we are going today…
Yes, we are going to the source of our love, we are going to God our Father. Our first verse gives us the best example of His great love for us. I used the King James Version because this is the one I memorized as a new Christian and the other versions just don’t sound the same to me. God “so loved” the humans He had created, from Adam and Eve to you and me today.
But human disobedience and sin separates us from our God, we push Him away. So, our God, who loves us so dearly, gave us His Son as a sacrifice. God’s plan to bring us back to Him. And as we soak in His everlasting, faithful and amazing love, we not only love Him, and His Son, Jesus, but that love overflows to others.
Our second verse confirms that it is God’s love in us that flows out to others. God is our source of real love. God’s love is unconditional, steadfast, merciful, gracious, forgiving, and unchanging. When we love others, we shine God’s love for them, too.
This week as we celebrate our love for our family and friends, remember the source of our love. We love because He first loved us. Shine God’s love to all you meet this week. Let them know they are loved by you and the LORD our God.
I thank God for each of you! And I thank you for joining me this week as we remember the source of all of our love, for God and for others, our God.
Blessings of love!
