The instruction of the LORD is perfect, renewing one’s life; the testimony of the LORD is trustworthy, making the inexperienced wise. The precepts of the LORD are right, making the heart glad; the command of the LORD is radiant, making the eyes light up. Psalms 19:7-8 CSB

Psalm 19 was written by King David. It begins by telling us that all of creation declares and proclaims the glory and power of our God. If you are new to the blog, please check out blog posts from January 24, 2022, on Psalms 19:1-2.

In our verses for today, David is telling us about the gifts from God that we receive as we read and study His Word. They are written in a pattern; first, an example of God’s Word and then a gift we receive from reading God’s Word.

What does God’s Word have for us?	What Gift do we receive from God?
Instruction – a direction or order	Renewing of our lives
Testimony – a statement or declaration	Making the inexperienced wise
Precepts – a general rule for behavior or thought	Making the heart glad
Command – an order by God	Making the eyes light up, radiance

Ok, I admit I got a little carried away with the chart, but it helps us to see the kinds of things that are available to us in God’s word and what God gives us as we read and focus on His Word.

This week as you read God’s word, what gifts do you receive? And know there are so many more than these: for example, peace, love, God’s presence, joy, and forgiveness, to name just a few.
