God’s Plans!

“For I know the plans I have for you” – this is the LORD’s declaration – “plans for your well-being, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 CSB

Lake Michigan is a short walk from the writers conference. I would walk down to the beauty of the lake and talk to God.

This is one of my favorite Bible verses. God promises us that He knows the plans He has for each one of us. God’s plans are good. They will give us hope and a future. But sometimes when things don’t go the way we want them to, we doubt this promise from the Lord.

I have always loved to write stories. I believe this is one of the gifts God has given me. So, I began this blog about 5 years ago because I wanted to write for and about our Lord. I also write children’s picture books. But I have not had one published, made into a book. I was getting discouraged. If this is my gift and God has good plans for me, why can’t I publish my writing?

I was having doubts. And then I read these verses: “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways.” This is the LORD’s declaration. “For as heaven is higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9 CSB This is another declaration from the Lord. He tells us that we can’t always understand the reason that God’s plans don’t work out like we think they should.

When my friend, Lori, invited me to go to a Christian writer’s conference this year, I went. And the Lord had good plans for me. I wrote a devotion, like the ones I write here and turned it in to a publisher who is putting short stories and devotions together in a book. And guess what? My devotion was chosen to be in the book. I’m going to be published! God is good and His plans give me hope and a future.

This week, if you are waiting on the Lord or if things aren’t going the way you want them to, keep waiting, keep praying, and keep looking to the Lord. He has good plans for you, plans to give you hope and a future.

We may never understand God’s plans or His timing but know that God’s plans will work out for you for good. God’s promises never fail.

Blessings and hope as you wait!
