“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Proverbs 9:10 NIV
Knowing God and understanding that He is in control and above all, is the beginning of wisdom. This week, well, really this month, I have been praying earnestly for wisdom. I have decisions to make, plans to firm up that require all the wisdom God can provide. I need God’s guidance and wisdom to either move forward or to change course. And I thought I would share some of that search with you.
Solomon was the wisest person in the Bible because he asked God for wisdom. (I Kings 3:3-14) I have been reading through Solomon’s story (I Kings 3: 16-27) and Proverbs this week absorbing the wisdom of Solomon. I also love the verse in James that says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given you.” James 1:5
We all need wisdom to deal with our lives in this troubled world. And we can go to the Creator of everything, the Designer of the universe, the Planner of the days and seasons, the Fabricator of the earth, and the Architect of life and our salvation. Our God.
I just want to share a few of my favorite Proverbs with you. I actually have too many to list. And I pray that you may find wisdom in God’s Word as you are faced with your own decisions and life choices.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5
“Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.” Proverbs 30:5
“Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.” Proverbs 3:3
“Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.” Proverbs 16:24
This week let’s all go to God for wisdom and guidance in making all of our decisions and choices. Let’s pray for God to help us make wise decisions.
I thank God for each of you! And I thank you for joining me this week as we all search for God-given wisdom.
Blessings and wisdom!
