“As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.” Isaiah 55:10-12

This verse from the prophet Isaiah is a beautiful image of God speaking to His people. He is talking to those who trust in Him, and God is also talking to us. Close your eyes and ask your mom or dad to read it to you slowly. Can you see the images in your mind? The rain and snow, the golden wheat fields, the loaf of bread? Can you imagine God speaking His Word to you?  Can you see the mountains singing and the trees clapping their hands? It’s beautiful!

Just as God cares for the earth with rain and snow, He cares for us by providing good food and His Word, the Bible. When we believe and trust God, we will be filled with joy and peace. God blesses us with good gifts in our lives and just like the mountains and hills, we want to burst into song. God blesses us with the people in our lives and just like the trees of the field we want to clap our hands. We want to praise God!

This week I want you to make up your own lyrics for the tune. I want you to think of all the ways God has blessed you. Your parents can help you. You might say God has blessed you with your family, or your friends, or enough food to eat, or a great backyard to play in. Make your own list. Then turn some of them into song lyrics. And like the mountains, burst into song. And like the trees, clap your hands. Here is an example for you.
