Look to the Lord!

“Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.” I Chronicles 16:11 NIV

“I lift up my eyes to you, to you who sit enthroned in heaven.” Psalms 123:1 NIV

This is an old road through our woods that we like to hike up to a higher ridge. The dogs like it too!

I love to go outside and hike. (That’s just a fancy way to say walk!) I live in the foothills and we have some pretty steep hills and deep valleys, and lots of paths through the woods. Some are steep and rocky, and you have to watch where you put your feet, so you don’t fall. But when I am focused on the path, I don’t see what is going on around me. I have to stop, lift my eyes off the path and look up.

Our lives can be like that, too. Sometimes our path, or our journey, is hard and we focus on just making it through one step at a time. This year has been an especially difficult “path” with online school or no school, not being able to spend time with friends or family, and just having to stay home. But we can lift our eyes up, off of our path, and look to the Lord for His strength and guidance. We can look to the Lord and all of His promises for us!

Look to the Lord!

Look to the Lord for rest – when the path is hard and tiring.

Look to the Lord for His words – when the path is dull and uninspiring.

Look to the Lord for joy and hope – when the path is sad and tough.

Look to the Lord for peace – when the path is littered with too much stuff.

Look to the Lord for companionship – when you feel you’re on the path alone.

Look to the Lord for courage and guidance – when the path is scary and unknown.

Look to the Lord always and seek Him as you hike along your life’s path.

This week, go for a hike and look to the Lord as you journey. Find beauty in His creation and peace in His presence. When you feel alone, say a quick prayer and know that the Lord is with you. Draw a picture of a part of your life path that is difficult and ask the Lord to join you on your journey.

Blessings as you look to the Lord along your life’s journey!
