Dwell in Safety in the Lord

“In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.” Psalms 4:8

Full Moon 2

God’s promises, like the moon, shine through the clouds of our lives.

Sometimes the Lord speaks directly to me through His word, always when I need it the most! This week has brought some health problems for me (of course as I get older, more expected), my sister was in the hospital, and one of our beloved dogs had to have surgery. Peace and sleep seemed to be very far away. But this verse not only gave me comfort, it gave me direction.

Instead of lying in bed, worried and fretting, and not sleeping. I chose to look to the Lord alone. He never promised us a trouble-free life, but He has promised to be with us, to see us through whatever comes our way. He offers us His love, His protection, His safety. Why should I be worried when the Lord is with me? I am doing better, my sister went home, and our dog has come through the surgery just fine. The Lord does make me dwell in safety!

There are many things in this world to cause us worry, concern, fear and sleepless nights. But we do have the answer, we have the Lord. We have the peace that comes from trusting in His promises: to love us, to uphold us in His right hand, to be by our side, to renew our strength, to deliver us in our time of trouble and to let us dwell in safety.

This week, when those worries pile up like a mountain, ask the Lord to give you peace as you dwell in the safety of His promises. Turn your worries into praises for all the Lord has done for you. Know that He hears your prayers, feels your distress, and has a plan for your life. Rejoice that the Lord is with you and rest in His grace.

I thank God for each of you! And I thank you for joining me this week as we rest in the peace of the Lord and dwell in safety.

Blessings and peace and restful sleep!
