“Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of my God.” Revelation 3:2 NIV
A peaceful winter’s evening view!
I began this blog two years ago as I embraced the calling of the Lord to write books for children. But as of yet, no interest, nothing published (other than blog posts, which I do love doing). But, I have doubts and am seriously questioning my path. Did I get it wrong?
Then, as I am finishing up my yearly reading of the whole Bible, I came across this verse. And it hit me right “between the eyes”! Jesus is talking to one of the churches, Sardis, but it was like He was talking directly to me. Have I let my calling be pushed aside and ignored because of the rejections and disinterest and disappointments? Is my desire to serve God with writing “about to die”?
Then the second part of the verse is what truly convicts me. It is not that God has not come through for me; it is that my deeds are unfinished in the sight of God. I have taken this verse as my precept for the new year. I need to wake up, strengthen what remains of the dream, go forward with the work and deeds that will take me faithfully along the path that He has chosen for me.
So…get up and get moving, or as a writer, sit down and start typing. Spend time writing, reaching out, contacting editors, agents, publishers, and doing whatever it takes to follow this wonderful path in praise and service to my God. My deeds are unfinished, I am unfinished. Let me continue to “run the race”, to “fight the good fight” and to finish the journey that the Lord has given me.
This week, I challenge each of you to join me in following the Lord’s advice. Wake up, strengthen what remains and finish the “deeds” that God has given you. We are all “unfinished” works of our God. But may the Lord give each of us His strength to run our race and glorify His name.
I thank God for each of you! And I thank you for joining me this week because, you also give me the support and strength to carry on the good fight and to finish the race.
Blessings to each of you as you navigate your journey with the Lord!
