“Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.” Matthew 2:1-2
The wise men discovered a new star in the sky and followed the star to find the child who was born to be “the King of the Jews”; that was Jesus. The wise men started on their long journey when the star first appeared, when Jesus was born. They traveled and followed the star for almost two years until they found Jesus! After all that searching and seeking and journeying, they finally saw Jesus and worshiped Him and gave Him gifts fit for a King; gold, frankincense and myrrh.
The Journey of the Wise Men
Friends, did you see the bright, new star that’s risen in the west!?
God’s Messiah is come, all earth’s people will be truly blessed.
Let’s go and find this special child, born to be King of the Jews!
We can go and see for ourselves God’s Son, if we so choose.
Gather the camels, clothes, helpers, lots of food, and sturdy tents.
And gold! And frankincense! And myrrh! to give to Him as presents.
Map out our journey to Jerusalem, where God dwells with love.
Following the brilliant star will guide us to the child from above.
The animals are loaded with all that we need, let’s begin our quest!
We journey by night to follow the star; the days give sleep and rest.
The trip is long and exhausting; but our goal remains to see the King.
We continue on till Jerusalem’s walls we see; to our hope we cling.
Herod hears our request, where’s the birth place of the Lord of Lord’s?
He tells us in Bethlehem as the prophets stated, so we go forwards.
The bright star appears and stands over a house in Bethlehem town.
We arrive to find the parents and the holy child, we worship and bow down.
Just like the wise men who journeyed to find Jesus over 2000 years ago, we can go on a journey to find Him today. Jesus came to earth long ago to save us and draw us closer to God. You can seek Jesus today by reading your Bible and praying and learning all about Jesus from others who have found Him.
This week draw a picture of the wise men’s journey. Tell your parents or someone else about their trip. Then begin your own journey to find Jesus.
Afterwards you can ask your parents to send your picture by email or Facebook messenger so that everyone can learn about the wise men and their journey. And then begin their own journey to find Jesus!
A special note of thanks to all who have read, shared, followed, liked, and commented on this blog. I have completed one full year, 52 weeks, 104 blog posts. Whew! Thank you!! If you read the kids post, under the “For the Kids” heading, don’t forget to check out the additional post under the “Blog” heading written for adults.
This is very good. The movie is quite Wrong, as it shows the Wisemen meeting Jesus right when He was born. Yet Scriptures tells us he was then in a house, not the stable, and the king ordered to kill all Children from two years and under.
