“And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.” Luke 2:7
Merry Christmas! On this special day we celebrate the birth of Jesus! Jesus was God’s Son who came to earth for all of us, so that we could believe in Him and God, the Father, and be saved.
The story of the first Christmas is pretty amazing! This week I have a special project for you. We are going to make a book of the Christmas story for you to give to someone.
Take 3 pieces of paper and stack them together, then fold in the middle to make a book.
Stack of paper
Fold in half
Now you have a book! The front is the title of your book. You decide. Some examples might be: The Christmas Story, The First Christmas, The Birth of Jesus, Merry Christmas. Don’t forget to put your name under the title as the author. When you open the first page, you have two facing pages.
Let’s put one sentence on each page to tell the story.
Then you can be the illustrator! The one who adds all of the pictures to the story book. You have the important job! You can change the sentences into your own words.
Page 1- God’s angel tells Mary she will be the mother of God’s Son, Jesus.
Page 2 – God tells Joseph in a dream to take Mary as his wife.
Page 3 – Mary and Joseph go to Bethlehem.
Page 4 – There is no room at the inn, and they stay in the stable.
Page 5 – Jesus is born and wrapped in cloths and laid in the manger.
Page 6 – The angels of heaven sing about Jesus birth to shepherds in the field.
Page 7 – The shepherds go into Bethlehem to worship Jesus.
Page 8 – The shepherds go back to their towns and tell the good news of Jesus.
Page 9 – The wise men see the star over Bethlehem and begin their journey.
Page 10 – (write a special note to the person who will get your book as a gift)
Wonderful! Now give your Christmas book to someone as a gift. Just like the angels shared the good news of Jesus with the shepherds, and then the shepherds shared the good news of Jesus with their families and friends; now you can share the good news of Jesus with someone you know.
Your parents can help you with your book if you need it. Enjoy sharing the Christmas story with someone special!
Merry Christmas!! Happy Birthday, Jesus!!
