“Sing, O heavens! Be joyful, O earth! And break out in singing, O mountains! For the Lord has comforted His people, And will have mercy on His afflicted.” Isaiah 49:13
I am still reading in Isaiah and continue to find his poetry beautiful and inspiring! I love the imagery of the earth singing and being joyful because the Lord, our creator, has comforted and has had mercy on His people. We are truly blessed to be counted at the “Lord’s people.
The Earth Sings
The sky sings softly in puffs of sunlit cloud that meander above in a delicate breeze.
The sky shouts in flashes of light and the applause of thunder and storm-tossed trees.
The mountains sing harmony with the rising sun as it lights the ridges and shadows the valleys.
The streams provide the backup, gurgling, splashing and rushing, as the warming day rallies.
The wind croons with joy as it whispers through the tree tops and sweeps the surface of a lake.
The water choruses with ripples pushing gently across the reflective veneer as the sky quakes.
The hidden waterfall strikes the beat as the cascade drums the rock with a rhythmic sound.
The rhododendrons hum with delight as the water quenches and nourishes the moist ground.
The toadstools burst into song as the cool, drenching rain and bright warmth of the day merge.
The insects and birds join the choir as buzzes, chirps, squeaks and musical notes emerge.
This week let’s take time to listen to the “singing” of the earth as it praises the Lord. Let’s take time to enjoy and appreciate the comfort and mercy that He has so richly shown us. And let us join in the song of praise to our creator, our Lord, our God, and our Savior.
I thank God for each of you! And I thank you for joining me this week to discover the melodies of the earth as it sings praises our Lord.
