It is back to school time! Or maybe it’s your first year to go to school! It is always an exciting time, but it can also be a little bit scary. Will I have a good teacher? Will I make friends? Will I do well in all my classes? Who will I eat lunch with? Lots of unknown things to think about.

Did you know that you can ask God to come with you to school? The Bible tells us that God is with us and that God gives us strength and can help make our path smooth. Wow, that is pretty awesome! You won’t be alone when God is with you. He will help you through your day and help calm your worries.

 

God Came to School with Me Today

 It’s my first day of school and I’m worried about riding the bus on my own.

But God came to school with me today, so I’m not all alone.

 

I walk into the classroom looking for my desk; I hope this teacher is kind.

But God came to school with me today, so first, I need to be kind.

 

I sit at my seat and look at all the kids. Will I find a best friend?

But God came to school with me today, so He helps me to be a good friend.

 

I take my lunch and sit at the last empty seat. Will anyone talk to me?

But God came to school with me today, so He gives me strength to talk to Mary.

 

I run on the playground as fast as I can. I hope someone wants to try to chase.

But God came to school with me today, so He gives me confidence to start the race.

 

I’m glad God came to school with me today.

Because He rode the bus with me and I was not alone.

Because He helped me be kind to the teacher and she was kind to me.

Because I He helped me be a friend to everyone and I have lots of friends.

Because He gave me strength to talk to Mary and we got to know each other at lunch.

Because He gave me confidence on the playground and I started a race.

 

As you go back to school this year, take God with you and let Him help you through! Draw a picture or write a few sentences about when God helped you at school or any other place you needed Him.
