For the LORD is the one who shaped the mountains, stirs up the winds, and reveals his thoughts to mankind. He turns the light of dawn to darkness and treads on the heights of the earth. The LORD God of Heaven’s Armies is his name! Amos 4:13 NLT

It is the LORD who created the stars, the Pleiades and Orion. He turns darkness into morning and day into night. He draws up water from the oceans and pours it down as rain on the land. The LORD is his name! Amos 5:8 NLT

I am reading Amos this week. It is full of God’s judgement on Israel, for neglecting the poor and worshipping idols. One of those minor prophets we tend to skim over and not really read. Guilty. Amos preaches the judgement of the LORD God Almighty on Israel’s neighbors as well as on Israel itself for sins against each other and the Lord. But there are a couple of beautiful passages that remind God’s chosen people of who God is and His power and might.

Amos is prompting Israel to recall, repent and return to their God. The LORD God who created the mountains, the winds and the whole world. The LORD God who created mankind in His own image and reveals His thoughts and plans to men and women. The LORD who controls the dawn and the dark. The LORD God Almighty who reigns from heaven above and sees all of His creation.

For those of you who read my blog, you know that I love to be outside in God’s wonderful creation. I love to search for traces of God in the smallest details. I love to praise the work of His hands. I love to worship God outdoors in His “big church”.

Join me this week as we take the advice of Amos and remind ourselves that our creator is the LORD God Almighty, the LORD God of Heaven’s Armies!

This week take some time to find our LORD God Almighty in His magnificent creation.
