Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life. Psalms 139:23-24 NLT

At the beginning of this Psalm, David actually says, “O LORD, you have examined my heart and know everything about me.” Psalms 139:1 He tells us that God knows when we sit and when we stand. He knows our thoughts, our ways, and our words before we speak them. Wherever we go, we do not escape the presence of our God. God formed us from our very beginning.
I tend to go to this Psalm whenever I am feeling distant from God. I know that it is not God who distances Himself from me, rather it is me who is distanced from God. Am I doing something that I know is questionable? Am I neglecting something I should be doing? Am I allowing the busyness of life to push God away? This Psalm reminds me that God is always there, He knows my heart and me. And that He graciously forgives my distancing and lovingly guides me back to Himself.
Search Me, God
In the busy days, that merge into weeks, do I let worldly cares get between us?
The frustrations and worries of life fill my mind and all I seem to do is fuss.
Search me, God, and know my heart; that wants to seek you above the rest.
Share my burdens, ease my anxious thoughts, bring me back to You, blessed.
Search me, God, and expose my shortcomings and guide me along Your way.
Forgive my wandering and bring me back to Your everlasting love to stay.
This week let’s all invite God, our Father, to search our hearts and to know us. Let’s examine our lives and goals and choose to walk alongside our God in His everlasting love and way.
I thank God for each of you! And I thank you for joining me this week as we ask God to search our hearts and know us.
Blessings and joy, guidance and love in God’s amazing presence!
I love the boldness of King David: “Search me, O God.” May we all be brave enough to ask God directly. Blessings to you and yours!
