Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a ESV
Hear, O sons [and daughters], a father’s instruction, and be attentive, that you may gain insight, for I give you good precepts (advice); do not forsake my teaching. Proverbs 4:1-2 ESV

First a Happy Father’s Day to every father, dad, grandpa, foster dad, adoptive dad, and those moms who have to be both mother and father! I hope this day finds you surrounded and celebrated by family and friends. Fathers are love. We learn love from our dads (and moms, and grandparents, and all others who have loved us).
Thank you to all today for loving, caring, helping, teaching, and raising us to become who we are. Blessings and joy!
Fathers are…
Faithful to love, comfort, and encourage us; always picking us up when we fall.
And the one we come to when we are hurt or troubled, our fathers are our “catch-all.”
Teachers in life; instructing and guiding, coaching and caring, modeling their best.
Hopeful, always wanting the best for us, always praying we’ll be happy and blessed.
Endlessly loving us, faithfully cheering us on to try, to endure and to flourish.
Rest, calming our worries, soothing our fears, healing our hurts, proving we are cherished.
Selfless, giving us the very best of himself to help us to become the very best we can be.
This Father’s Day, if your dad is still around, make sure to celebrate him in your life. If your dad is gone, like my dad, let the memories remind you of all he was and all he did for you. Our dad’s shape our lives because of the lives they lived for us.
If your father was not around or not the loving father you needed, please remember that your Father God loves you unconditionally and desires nothing more than for you to be His son or daughter.
I thank God for each of you! And I thank you for joining me this week as we celebrate and remember our fathers!
Blessings and joy as we celebrate our dads!
Amen…this is wonderful, Peggy. I still have a few fond memories that linger.. but as time passes, these also begin to fade. But the ones from my childhood.. they are strong.

It’s so true, Nigel, some of my strongest memories of my dad are from when I was a kid.
