Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a ESV
Hear, O sons [and daughters], a father’s instruction, and be attentive, that you may gain insight, for I give you good precepts (advice); do not forsake my teaching. Proverbs 4:1-2 ESV

Today is Father’s Day! It is the day where we take time to appreciate and thank our dads for all they do for us. If you haven’t told your dad, “Happy Father’s Day” yet, go and tell him now and give him a big hug!
If you don’t have a dad to celebrate today, I am so sorry. But you can celebrate the person who loves you and cares for you, like your mom or your grandfather or a special someone who loves and cares for you.
Our first verses for today are all about love. The dads and the other people that love you, are patient and kind, they encourage you when you do the right thing, they have hope for your future, and they believe in you and take care of you. They even love you when you don’t do what you should. They may not always like what you did but they still love you. Just like your Father God will always love you.
Our second verses tell us that dads, and those that love us, teach us. They are wise, which means they have learned a lot and can give us good advice. They can teach us kindness for others. And because they love us, we can learn to love others.
Make today a special day, do something nice for your dad or the other ones that love you. You can draw a picture or make a card and write in it all the things you love about them! You can write a poem about your dad. You can, with help from mom or someone else, make your dad a special breakfast.
Today, make your dad, or the one who loves you, feel special and loved.
Blessings and joy, hope and love as you celebrate Father’s Day!

So many men, don’t realize that they are fathers. In word, in action, in their presence. A lot of kids look up to us for guidance and mentorship. Children mimic the behaviors of those around them, and I feel that burden to be a good man, although I have not been blessed to be a biological dad to anyone… I play the part as intended. 😉
