Show Love Like Jesus!

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes I him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 ESV

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. Love bears all things, believes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. 1 Corinthians 13:4-5a, 13:8 ESV

A new commandment I give you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. John 13:34 ESV

God loves us and shows us how to love others! This Valentine’s Day show His love!

Happy early Valentine’s Day! On Friday we will celebrate a day of love. And before you say, “Eeww, no way.”, remember that the One who created you, created love. Can you guess who created love? If you said God and Jesus, you’re right!

Our first verse says God loved all the world that He created so much that He sent Jesus, His Son, to die for us so that when we believe in Jesus, we can have eternal life with God. Eternal means we can live with God and Jesus forever!

Our second verse gives us some ideas about what love is and isn’t. Paul tells us love is patient and kind, it bears (puts up with) all things, believes all things, and endures (keeps on going even when it’s hard) things. Loving someone may not always be easy, but we are not to be mean or rude or think only of ourselves. We are to show love to others because we have been shown love by God and Jesus.

And our last verse is Jesus speaking to His disciples, and to us. He gives all of us a commandment, a rule that we are to follow. Just as Jesus loves each one of us, we are to love others. We are to show love like Jesus.

This week, lets all try to love like Jesus. If your class exchanges Valentine’s on Friday, make sure to include everyone in your class, even those you may not like as much, because that’s what Jesus would do. When we do something that we know we shouldn’t, Jesus still loves us. He would still give us a Valentine because His love never ends!

You can also show love like Jesus by being kind and friendly, by helping someone who needs it, and by listening to a friend who has a problem. Showing you care about others is showing love. Talk to your parents about some other ways you can show love like Jesus and celebrate Valentine’s Day all week long.

Blessings and joy as you practice loving others like Jesus!

  2. “Eeww, no way.” 🤣 I love this, Peggy! But yes, many kids to react that way. As always, keep up wonderful work you’re doing. You’re an incredibly talented writer and communicator, and your messages are profoundly important for all. Happy Valentine’s Day, my friend. 😊🙏

    • Sorry for the delay, Mike, just saw this. As I was writing this, I thought about some of the kids I taught over the years. When I asked them to hold hands for a game, this was one of the responses a first grader gave me. And his expression matched the comment. 🤣
Thanks, Mike for your continued support and kind encouragement! I appreciate you my friend!! 😊
