For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes I him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 ESV
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. Love bears all things, believes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. 1 Corinthians 13:4-5a, 13:8 ESV
A new commandment I give you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. John 13:34 ESV

Happy early Valentine’s Day! The first Valentine’s celebration was over 700 years ago. One legend says that a priest named Valentine went against Ceasar’s decree that soldiers could not marry. The priest continued to marry couples in secret and was killed on February 14th.
Another legend tells that St. Valentine wrote a love letter to a young woman and signed it “From your Valentine.” But no matter it’s start, we continue to celebrate a “day of love” on Valentine’s Day.
The Bible is God’s love story for us, for humans, created in His image. God demonstrates love for us so that we can share love others. Our first verse tells us that God so loved us that He gave His Son to die in our place in order that we may believe and have eternal life with God. God is love, caring for each one of us, for the whole earth, and the plants and animals that fill it. God’s love is everlasting, it never ends.
In our second verse, Paul gives some advice on what love is and how we are to interact with others to show and share love. And our last verse is Jesus giving his disciples and us a commandment. As we have been loved by Jesus, we are to love others.
This Valentine’s Day, show your love for your family and friends and all those you love and who love you! But don’t forget to also share the love of God with others. You can show God’s love by being kind and caring, by helping someone in need, by making a card or giving a gift, or by telling someone about Jesus. Jesus loved you so much that He came to earth to save you. He would have died on that cross if you had been the only one to save. That is how much He loves each one of us!
On this day of love let each of us ponder and be amazed at the love of God and share our testimony, our “love story” of how God has loved us!
I thank God for each of you! And I thank you for joining me this week as we celebrate love and share the love of God with others.
Blessings and joy and abundant love!

Happy early Valentines, Peggy.
One way we share the love is by sharing the gift that God has given us. Our talents, dutifully used to his glory, is an act of service and love. When you share your writing, Ms Peggy.. this is an act of love.
So thank you.
