Even There…God Is With You!

…even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me. Psalms 139:10 ESV

…even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is light with you. Psalm 139:12 ESV

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18 ESV

God is with us in our lowest valleys and on our highest mountaintops, yes even there!

The beginning of Psalm 139 begins with David pondering the wonders of God; that God knows him, when he sits, when he rises, knows his thoughts and his path, knows his words before he speaks them. He knows that God created him! Then David wonders if he can go anywhere to get away from God’s Spirit; to heaven, to Sheol, to the sunrise, to the farthest sea, into the darkness.

And our first verse is David’s conclusion. It doesn’t matter where David is, what he thinks, how much trouble comes his way, whether he is in a valley or on the mountain top, God is there with him.

And this reassures all of us that no matter our most difficult situations; heartbreak, grief, pain, illness, rejection, isolation, or any other trouble we may face, that God is with us. Even there in the midst of our trials, there is God coming along side to hold us in His right hand.

The right hand of God denotes power, authority, favor, and salvation. God brings light to our darkness, hope in our despair, comfort in our brokenness, and love in our loneliness.

This week let’s all embrace and marvel, like David, that God knows us, loves us, cares for us, and is always with us no matter our situation. God gives strength, courage, comfort, hope, help, guidance, and His presence.

I thank God for each of you! And I thank you for joining me this week as we wonder and marvel at our amazing God and His desire to be with us always.

Blessings and joy in abundance knowing that God is with us…even there!

  1. It is a blessed assurance. I’ve had my dark moments, like most anyone alive. But God is good, all the time. His hand is not shortened that he cannot save, nor his ear heavy that he cannot hear. He is ever present. A might fortress, a bulwark, and we can be certain that he is with us always.
    Thank you, Peggy. 😇

  2. No matter who we are in life. We’ve all had our mountaintop experiences and been in the valleys low. What I’ve learned is can you praise God no matter where you are—it’s in the praise my friend that we truly find the joy of the Lord. Blessings and peace!

  3. A timely reminder of something I struggle with a great deal when things are dark. I’m reclusive by nature (especially now), so being alone is really all I know anymore. Thanks for your messages of hope, Peggy. Gentle reminders can work wonders, my friend. 😊
