Take Time to Thank a Veteran!

Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13 ESV

For I will restore health to you, and your wounds I will heal, declares the LORD. Jeremiah 30:17a ESV

Today is a special holiday in the United States called Veterans Day. A veteran is a man or woman who served in any branch of the military. The different branches are the army, the navy, the marine corps, the air force, and the coast guard. Do you know anyone who is a veteran?

My dad and both of my brothers served in the navy. My dad served during the Korean War in the early 1950’s. Both of my brothers served on submarines in the Atlantic Ocean in the 1980’s and 1990’s. I wish them and all veterans today a Happy Veteran’s Day! We honor and thank you for your service to keep us free and safe!

When someone joins the military, it is their job to fight for and protect our country. They even make a promise that they will! In our first Bible verse Jesus is speaking. He says that there is no greater love than someone who willingly would give their life to save or protect others. Every person who chooses to join the military shows their love for our country and us.

In our second verse God promises to heal wounds and give back health to His people. Many veterans are wounded in wars and battles as they fight for us, but God is with them to help them heal and return to health. We can all help our veterans, too.

Talk with your parents this week about Veterans Day. How can you celebrate Veterans Day? You and your family can tell a veteran thank you! Return some of the love that they showed us when they enlisted in the military and promised to fight for us.

Blessings and love as you tell a veteran, “Thank You!” on Veterans Day! Or any day!

  1. Some of those sounds aren’t visible either. I always pray for my friends and cousins who are in the armed forces. America has been in various conflicts across the world since the second World War. Many of which aren’t spoken of. Everyday the men and women who serve are placing their lives on the line. 🙏
