But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Matthew 6:33-34 ESV

In our first verse we are back in the sermon on the mount with Jesus. He is giving guidance to all, including us, for living life well. Being anxious or worried is something most of us deal with in our busy lives. Earlier in the sermon, Jesus tells us that God feeds the birds of the air and clothes the lilies of the field, and that God will meet our needs as well. Instead of worrying we are to seek God and his righteousness, trusting that our Father will care for us and provide what we need.
In our second verse Paul gives the church at Philippi and us some “worry free” advice. “Do not be anxious about anything.” He reminds us that we can take everything to God in prayer. We can take our worries to God and turn them over to Him. We can be thankful for all the ways He has already provided for us and our families. We can lay our burdens at His feet and trust that He will care for us, take our worries, and give us peace.
Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night, well actually a dog wakes me up. But it takes awhile to get back to sleep. And I have to be careful, because this can become my worry time. What is on my list for tomorrow? Did I finish that last chore today? Are the kids ok? Maybe I should call or text them in the morning. I need to send a get well card to my friend. And the list goes on… Makes it hard to sleep.
I have to stop those thoughts! And the best way I’ve found is to start talking with God. I thank Him for all the blessings in my life. I think about how He has already given me strength to do what I need to and comfort in my afflictions. I lay my worries down and praise Him. And His peace seeps in and sleep follows.
This week let’s all take control of our worries, fears, and anxiety by going to our Lord and sharing the burdens with Him, focusing on our faith and trust in Him, and accepting the peace only He can give.
I thank God for each of you! And I thank you for joining me this week as we lay down our worries and anxiety at the feet of God and embrace His peace!
Blessings and peace my friends!
As a lifelong worrier, I can attest to how difficult it can be to turn off the worrying and relax. It’s next to impossible for me at times, and I feel as though I’m buried beneath an Everest of fears and regrets. It takes diligence and practice like anything else, I suppose, to learn to let go of things outside of our control.
Thanks as always, Peggy, for your timely and enlightening posts. I look forward to these wise and compassionate offerings of yours, my friend. 🙂

Thank you, my friend, for your encouragement and support! I appreciate you!
Worry has always been an issue for me as well. I sometimes feel as if I’ve fallen in a rabbit hole and just spiral further down. But I have come to understand that I have to take the focus off of me and my thoughts and look to the Lord.
Prayers for you, Mike, and blessings of peace.

Amen 🙏🏾. Waking up at anytime other than my usual time to wake up is prayer time for me. Once I’ve prayed then going back to sleep is easy. ❤️😊
