Be Still and Get to Know God

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Psalm 46:10-11 ESV

A beautiful and amazing sunset made by God just for us to see Him in His creation!

Early morning on Friday, Traveler, our small black lab jumped into bed and woke me up. She lay next to me and snuggled in. I was very still and quiet. Soon I could hear her even breathing, then her legs twitching as she chased something in her dreams. I stayed still and she was really quiet…until she started snoring!

Our verse for today tells us that if we will be still, we can get to know God. We can look at all of His wonderful creations and see His beauty, His wisdom, the work of His hands, and His love for us. We can also spend time with God by reading our Bibles and thinking about all that He does for us.

Getting to Know God

I walk to the waterfall on a cold wintery day.

I hear the water rushing down and feel the spray.

God put all the water in the exact right places.

He wants us to enjoy His creation with smiling faces.

There’s a tree in the woods that is bent and leaning.

But it still puts out its leaves when it’s time for greening.

God takes care of all of creation, us, and even a tree,

That doesn’t know it shouldn’t have leaves of green.

I read in my Bible the story of Jesus who died on a cross.

He rose from His grave, ALIVE, to show death who is boss.

God sent His Son, Jesus, to save all who would believe.

All we have to do is ask for His salvation and then receive.

This week, talk with your parents about spending time with God, being still and getting to know Him. Maybe you can spend time together taking a walk in God’s amazing creation. Where did you see God’s handiwork? Where did you see His beauty? Or reading a Bible story together. What did you learn about God? Take the time to be still; listen, see, touch, and think about our amazing God.

Blessings and joy as you are still and get to know God better!
