Rejoice, Fall is Here!

Be glad, people of Zion, rejoice in the LORD your God, for he has given you abundant showers, both autumn and spring rains, as before. Joel 2:23 NIV

In my part of the world, autumn is here! Or fall as many of us call this season. I have to admit that fall is probably my favorite season. Although I love all the transitions from one season to the next. God has such a wonderful plan for the seasons! Just when we get tired of the heat and storms of summer, He gives us autumn with cooler temps, shorter days and cozy nights.

When our kids were younger, early fall would be our family time to burn brush and fallen branches. We would spend the day gathering and burning, and when the evening came, we roasted hot dogs and made s’mores around the fire. A cozy campfire evening meant fall was really here!

God’s Autumn

Autumn is here with cooler nights and shorter days.

Campfires and hearth fires warm us as they blaze.

Green leaves gradually change to scarlet and gold.

Seasons change, as from the beginning, God foretold.

Sourwoods are the first to put on bright autumn hues.

Oak and maple, hickory and walnut, make for colorful views.

Farmers bring in their crops – apples, onions, and peas.

Wheat plants in fields bow in the cool autumn breeze.

This week take time to step out in God’s beautiful changing seasons and rejoice in the beauty of fall or whatever season you are in. God’s amazing cycle of seasons brings welcome change!

I thank God for each of you! And I thank you for joining me this week as we rejoice in the fall. Rejoice in whatever season you are in. Thank You, Lord!

Blessings and joy in the changing seasons!

  1. Ah, autumn… It has always been a melancholy season for me; after all these years I still associate it with the end of summer vacation and the return to school, and as a kid I really, really disliked school! 😀 You write so well, Peggy, and the poem is lovely. Autumn colors here in SW Colorado consist mainly of yellow aspens and orange cottonwoods among all the dark green conifers. Not may hardwoods here to really light up the forests, but the aspens are world-famous.

Enjoy your autumn, my friend! 🙂

    • Thanks so much for your kindness and support! I so appreciate you. SW Colorado sounds beautiful as well. I was a teacher, and though I enjoyed the summers off, I looked forward to the new school year. Always new kids and things to try.
Thanks again, my friend, for your kindness!
