Praise the Lord!

My mouth will declare the LORD’s praise; let every living thing bless his holy name forever and ever. Psalms 145:21 CSB

Austin French and his band praising the Lord in song and dance! Austin is a bit blurry because he was moving around as he sang and inviting everyone to come and praise with him.

Our verse this week comes from a Psalm, a sacred song or hymn, written by King David. He wrote at least 73 of the Psalms in your Bible! David says that he will declare the LORD’s praise. He even says that every living thing, all of God’s creations, should praise Him. That’s you and me, too!

Praise is when we are thankful for all that God has done for us and we sing or declare (tell) that good news to God and to others. Does your church have a praise and worship band? Or a choir that sings praise to the Lord? Do you sing hymns in church? Do people share stories of all the good things God has done for them? All of these are praises to the Lord!

I spent Saturday at our praise celebration called Mannafest. God is so good that we wanted to share that good news with everyone. There were games and activities for all ages of kids and young people, there were all kinds of food, Bibles were given to anyone who wanted God’s Word, and then lots of singing and praising of the Lord.

Our high school has a praise and worship group who sang praises to the Lord. Then a family group from Michigan, Belle Isle Worship, came and sang praise songs with instruments. They also praised God with stories of how He had done wonderful things in their lives. And finally, Austin French, a Christian singer and his band praised the Lord. Austin also shared his story of how he came to be a child of God and invited others to know Jesus and become a child of God, too!

Have you heard any of Austin French’s songs? My favorites are “Born Again” and “Jesus Can.” Maybe your parents can find some for you to listen to.

This week talk to your parents and decide how you can praise the Lord. Can you sing a song to the Lord? Or tell your story of how God has helped you? Or maybe even write a psalm like King David? Think about things you are thankful for and praise the Lord.

Blessings and joy as you praise the Lord!
