Jesus Is Our Way Maker

God – he clothes me with strength and makes my way perfect. Psalms 18:32 CSB

Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared, and a light shone in the cell. Striking Peter on the side, he woke him up and said, “Quick, get up!” And the chains fell off his wrists. Acts 12:7 CSB

Sometimes our life way, path, seems uphill and rocky, but Jesus is our way maker and chain breaker!

Our first verse is from a Psalm that King David wrote. He tells us that God gives him strength and makes his way perfect. Our way, our path through life may not always be easy. But just like King David, we trust that God and Jesus will help us and lead us on a better way. Sometimes we aren’t sure of the way our lives are supposed to go, but Jesus knows. We trust that He will help us to find the path we are supposed to walk, and that He will go with us.

Our second verse is from Acts. Jesus is back in heaven at the right hand of Father God after His resurrection. And Jesus’ disciples have been given the command to share His good news. Then he said to them, “Go into all the word and preach the gospel to all creation.” Mark 16:15

As the disciples begin to heal people in Jesus’ name, do good works, share the good news of salvation, and begin churches, the Pharisees and others are very angry. James, John’s brother, is killed. And Peter is arrested and put in prison by King Herod. But that night God sends an angel to rescue Peter and his chains just fall off.

Just as Jesus is our way maker, helping us to find our true path we are supposed to walk; He is also our chain breaker. Sometimes our chains aren’t metal like Peter’s were. Sometimes our chains can be old habits that we know aren’t good for us but are hard to break. Maybe you have “friends” that really aren’t good friends for you, but you have a hard time leaving the friendship. Jesus gives us the strength and helps us break those chains that are keeping us from living our best way with Him.

This week talk to your parents about Jesus, our way maker and chain breaker. Seek His guidance as you search for your way and His strength and power as you work to break the chains that are keeping you from your best life, your way in Him.

Blessings and joy as you journey with Jesus on your way!
