The Gift of Grace

We have also obtained access through him [Jesus Christ] by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Romans 5:2 CSB

They are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Romans 3:24 CSB

Every lovely sunset and sunrise reminds me of God’s love and grace. God’s beauty and grace is everywhere in His creation.

Last week we talked about how Jesus makes us new. He gives us a new heart and the Holy Spirit to live in us. This week we are going to talk about how God’s grace makes all of that possible. Last week we learned that the Bible is God’s love story for us, His creation made in His image. We said that God loves us and wants to be close to us.

God offers us His gift of grace. Grace is God’s favor toward all of mankind. Favor is a choice to do good for someone else. For example, your parents choose to do good for you. They love you and take care of you. They give you good things like love, a home, food, clothes, and toys.

Even though Adam and Eve sinned and were separated from God. God still loved them and us. God wants to be close to mankind and so He gifted us with grace, with His favor, God chooses to bless and do good for us.

And this grace was given through Jesus. God’s grace sent Jesus to earth to be born, to live a perfect life, and to die on a cross with all our sins on Him. When we believe in Jesus and all that He did for us, we are gifted God’s grace, His favor.

With our faith in all that Jesus did for us, we are made new. Now, God doesn’t look at us and see all the bad things we’ve done in the past. God now sees us as new. He sees us just as He sees Jesus, as righteous, as sinless. God chooses to see us like Jesus because we believe. God sets us free from sin.

That doesn’t mean that we will never sin again, because we all will as human beings; me, you, your mom and dad, your pastor, your friends, and the list goes on to include everyone. But because of God’s grace and forgiveness, and Jesus making us new, God sees us only as His righteous, sinless children.

This week, talk to your parents about God’s gift of grace. Grace loves us. Grace forgives our sins. Grace helps us to be confident and strong in our faith. Grace saves us. Grace blesses us. God’s grace sees us as righteous and children of God.

Blessings and God’s grace on your life!
