“You alone are the Lord. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them, you give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you.” Nehemiah 9:6 NIV

The book of Nehemiah tells the story of God’s people returning home to Jerusalem after being exiled in Babylon for seventy years. The temple, the walls and the city were destroyed. Nehemiah leads and encourages the people as they rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. In our verse for today, God’s people are being reminded of all that God has done for them, beginning with creation and then all through their history.
As we start a new year, let’s begin it by remembering all that the Lord has done for us.
Remember
The Lord created you, just the way you are, uniquely you, one-of-a-kind and perfectly you!
The Lord loves you, His creation, with an everlasting, unchanging love, to see you through.
The Lord has placed inside of you a special spot that only He can fill and make you new.
The Lord forgives your past and your transgressions and makes you righteous in His view.
The Lord carries your burdens that are too heavy, too painful for you to withstand, to bear.
The Lord gives strength and protection that you may never understand, but still it’s there.
The Lord offers you peace in the midst of your troubles, joy in the mess of worldly cares.
The Lord promises His presence is with you always; in sorrow, in trials, and in every prayer.
This week, make your own list to remember all that the Lord has done for you. Maybe it’s the gift of grace or healing, comfort in your grief, strength in your weakness, good out of a bad situation, the people in your life, or just His presence when you were lonely. Make your list and then praise and thank the One who truly is the only Lord.
I thank God for each of you! And I thank you for joining me this week as we begin our new year by remembering all the Lord has done for us.
Blessings in remembrance!
Prayers for a Happy, Healthy, and Amazing New Year!
