“Your faithfulness continues through all generations; you established the earth, and it endures.” Psalms 119:90 NIV
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” I Chronicles 16:34 NIV
The word endure caught my attention this week in my Bible reading. Endure is a strong word. It means to last, to continue on, to persist, to survive, to be steady, to hold on, to make the best of, to be unwavering. God created and established the earth, and it continues to endure, to last. We are also reminded that God and God’s love endure forever.
But how do we endure? We know that we will face trouble in this world. Jesus told us so. “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33b NIV How do we stay strong and endure in this world? Jesus tells us that also. “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” John 13:34 NIV We endure, we make the best of things, by loving others like Jesus loves us.
I Will Endure!
Even when I am mad or busy, I will honor and obey my parents.
Never will I call my brother or sister or anyone a mean name.
Daring to be different, I will care about others and defend the weak.
Using love and kindness, I will help my family whenever I can.
Remembering Jesus, I will care about and respect others in my class.
Even when I want to give up, I will ask Jesus to help me to continue to endure!
We endure and survive by treating others in our lives with love and kindness, by treating others like Jesus did. We endure by shining God’s love on others.
This week, choose one person you can show God’s love to by being kind, by helping, by showing love, or by just being a friend. Your parents can help you decide on someone and how to shine. Be like Jesus and endure and shine in this world of ours!
Blessings and love and endurance!
