“The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.” Psalms 103:8 NIV
“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10b NIV
We have had a lot of rain this week! Enough that is was no longer soaking into the ground. Don’t get me wrong, we live in the foothills not the mountains, but we are on a pretty decent “hill”. When we get this much rain, gravity takes over and the downhill rush is awesome and powerful. The springs, creeks, waterfall, and pond are all filled to overflowing! It is amazing.
We spend some time clearing out blockages of leaves and sticks and debris to let the water flow in a more desired path. Afterwards, we begin talking about all of our “overflowing” blessings. God’s love abounds, exists in large amounts, plentiful. Jesus tells us He came to give us life to the full, holding as much as possible, no empty space. God’s love and blessings flow like the water pouring down the waterfall, overflowing.
Our first major blessing this week is that our son, who has continued to work in an essential business which just reported 4 cases of covid-19, has tested negative (which means our daughter-in-law is probably also negative). Thank You, Lord! The second is that our daughter in NYC remains well also! But as we talk we name Traveler, our black lab (see blog post “Answered Prayers!” in Blog and “God Answers Prayers!” in For the Kids), the beautiful place God has given us to live, and the ability to still be able to do all the work that requires!
Then we begin to think of even the smallest blessings that bring joy to our hearts and an appreciative thanks to the Lord; a red-tailed hawk sailing through the trees, a sunrise that sets the sky on fire, a star-filled night sky, a foggy morning that cozies us in, and all the family and friends that God has brought into our lives. We know God is working in our lives from the largest to the smallest. When life works out, God is there with love and blessings.
This week, let’s all take time to acknowledge and appreciate God’s abundant love and that He works all things for our good. He gives us peace and comfort. Let’s thank God for the big things and the small things.
I thank God for each of you! And I thank you for joining me this week as we discover God’s abounding love and explore our overflowing blessings.
Overflowing blessings and love!
