“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time.” Ephesians 4:2 NIV
“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:29
I always feel small and humble when I look at God’s mighty creation!
To be humble means to think more of others than ourselves. To do things for others, to not be proud of ourselves or boast about what we can do. Jesus, even though He was God’s Son, left heaven and came to earth as baby. He is our hero when it comes to being humble. In the verse from Matthew, Jesus is telling us that He is “gentle and humble in heart”.
Jesus, Our Humble Hero!
Healing and helping the poor, the sick and the handicapped.
Unlocking the truth of God’s word for everyone.
Meeting and sharing God’s love with all kinds of people.
Blessing the young children and others who came to Him.
Loving all people but discouraging their sin.
Enduring death on the cross to offer salvation for you and me.
We can’t do all the things that Jesus could. He is the Son of God! But there are things we can do with the same love and humbleness that Jesus showed.
This week try to be like Jesus by comforting a hurt friend, sharing a Bible verse with someone, helping with a chore, asking someone to come to church with you, giving up your seat to someone older, smiling at someone. There are so many ways we can put others before ourselves. Ask your parents to help you think of things you can do for others, with a humble heart just like Jesus!
Blessings as you humbly follow Jesus’ example!
