“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.” John 1:1-4

In this verse, Jesus is called by another name, the “Word”. (The Word of God) So, if we substitute Jesus for the Word (and Him) in the above verse, this is what we read.

In the beginning was Jesus, and Jesus was with God, and Jesus was God. He (Jesus) was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Jesus, and without Him (Jesus) was nothing made that was made. In Jesus was life, and the life was the light of men.

Wow! So, if we go back to the very beginning of creation (Genesis 1:1) in the Bible, Jesus was there with God! Come with me as we take an imaginary walk through creation with God and Jesus.

Imagine Creation!

God and Jesus created light on day number one.

Maybe Jesus danced through the light before anyone.

What would you do to have fun?

 

God and Jesus formed the big blue sky on day number two.

Maybe Jesus breathed in the cool fresh air and smiled at the brand-new view.

What would you do?

 

God and Jesus made the earth, the seas and plants on day number three.

Maybe Jesus climbed a tree, picked an apple, and swam in the Mediterranean Sea.

What would you want to see?

 

God and Jesus designed the sun, moon and stars on day number four.

Maybe Jesus warmed His face in the sunshine and counted stars and kept the score.

What would you explore?

 

God and Jesus created all the sea creatures and birds on day number five.

Maybe Jesus sang with the whales and followed a hungry white osprey on its dive.

What would you like to see alive?

 

God and Jesus made all the animals, a man and a woman on day number six.

Maybe Jesus talked with Adam and Eve about rabbits and squirrels and chicks.

What would you do for kicks?

 

God and Jesus rested from all of their hard work on day number seven.

Maybe Jesus sang songs of praise and joy with the angels in heaven.

What would you do in heaven?

 

This week draw a picture of the day of creation that would be your favorite. Show what you would do on that day.  And don’t forget that God and Jesus would be with you! Share your picture with your parents. Ask them what their favorite day would be.
