“So that people may see and know, may consider and understand, that the hand of the Lord has done this, that the Holy One of Israel has created it.” Isaiah 41:20 NIV
We went on our first ever cruise to Southeast Alaska. It was on a smaller ship and we got to go around several islands. I want to share it with all of you because the hand of the Lord was in that place. It was a beautiful wilderness of God’s creation. I just happened to be reading Isaiah 41 while we were aboard the ship and loved the above verse because God’s handiwork was everywhere!
I also want to share a verse that I read from Isaiah 42 the next day. “Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise from the ends of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, you islands, and all who live in them. Let the wilderness and its towns raise their voices.” Isaiah 42:10-11a NIV They both seemed to perfect for all these pictures!
A mother brown bear and her cub catching salmon for lunch and then her cub running to catch up to her.
A humpback whale coming to the surface to breathe. See the hump on his back!
The humpback’s tail as he dives down to get some more krill or small fish to eat.
A family of orcas swimming close to our boat. I think they were curious.
This was called Bird Island. All the black spots are cormorants and the white spots are gulls.
This is a glacier, a river of packed snow and ice that flows down from the tops of the mountains. It moves very slowly and pieces will fall into the sea. Do you see all the chunks of ice in the water?
A mountain goat way up high on a grassy ledge of a mountain. He has a thick fur coat.
The rain forests are covered in mosses and lichens; lovely and quiet.
Waterfalls rush down the sides of mountains into the blue green waters of a fjord. A fjord is a deep channel cut by a glacier long ago and covered with water.
An island where the sea lions love to lay in the sun in between cool dips in the water!
Two bald eagles sitting on a rocky beach.
Thanks for joining me on my Alaskan tour. God’s handiwork was everywhere! All creation seemed to be praising there creator and singing Him a new song each day!
This week, wherever you are, look for God’s hand in your special part of God’s creation. Find something to praise God for and “sing a new song” to the Lord.
Blessings as you search and raise your voice to the Lord!
