“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23
One of our apple trees and an apple blossom that becomes an apple!
When you plant and apple tree, what kind of fruit will you get? Right! Apples. What about a peach tree? Yes! Peaches. You get the idea, you don’t plant a pear tree and get bananas or a grape vine and get blueberries. In the Bible verse above, we are told that when we believe in Jesus and God, that we will grow or develop special “fruits” or character traits. Fruits that allow us to be more like Jesus.
Today we want to talk about love. Jesus loves us all, everyone! He gives us advice on how we should act, like “love your neighbor as yourself”. But even if we sometimes mess up, He still loves us, always and forever.
God’s Love – Pass It On!
God and His Son, Jesus, give love to me,
Love that’s bigger and deeper than the sea.
I feel Their love and just can’t keep it inside.
So I shine Jesus’ love for others, far and wide.
To the new kid on the bus who’s sad and worried,
I smile and sit and introduce myself, unhurried.
We walk into school and I take him to his class.
We agree to meet at recess on the soccer-field grass.
To the bully in line who’s a bit bossy and gruff.
I smile, and shake hands, and sure enough,
He’s surprised but smiles back and shakes my hand.
Amazing! God’s love works just like He planned.
To the neighbor lady whose house is right next door,
I get off the bus and swing by to do her a small chore.
I get her mail and newspaper from the end of her walk,
And take them to her on the front porch where we talk.
Thank you, God and Jesus for Your love to share.
Help me pass it on to others; this is my prayer.
This week share the fruit of the spirit of love with someone by helping them in some way. Some ideas might be making someone a card, or helping with a chore, or talking with someone you know who is lonely. Make sure you tell your parents about how you want to share God’s love and maybe they can help.
Shine God’s love and pass it on! Blessings to you!
