“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” James 1:17 NKJV
A gift from God, a beautiful sunrise!
OK, who doesn’t like to get gifts? Christmas presents and gifts on your birthday are really nice. But sometimes the gifts we get in life seem perfect, like they were picked out just for us. And who knows us better than God, our Father and our creator. All the good “gifts” in our lives come from God. But God’s gifts aren’t usually things like the latest toy or a video game.
God’s gifts are people that He brings into our lives like family and friends. God’s gifts can be places or parts of creation that we can enjoy and thank Him for, like a beautiful sunrise or the beach. God’s gifts can be the talents and dreams He gives us as we grow up. And God’s gifts can be spiritual gifts like forgiveness and grace and love.
Thank You, God, for the Gift of…
Grandparents, girls, grace, giggling
Ocean waves, oranges, outdoors
Dads, dreams, dogs, dancing
Sun, seasons, singing songs
God’s Son, Jesus, grace, growing plants
Imagination, insects, ideas, inventions
Family, faces smiling, feelings, forgiveness
Talents, time with friends, teachers, trees
Sandy beaches, shade in the summer, snow
These are just a few of the gifts that God gives us. Draw a picture of a gift you have received from God. Or add more gifts to the poem above. Don’t forget to thank God for the gift of your parents!
Afterwards ask your parents to share your picture or poem by email or Facebook messenger so that everyone can see them on the Kid’s Gallery and thank God for all His wonderful gifts.
